Emergency medical doctors must often work out of Emergency rooms in hospitals. They normally don't continue to treat the patient but they do come up with a diagnosis and stabilize them. They then will refer them back to their family doctor or a specialist. If the person has no family doctor the emergency physician will help them set up appointments with one in must situation.In most hospital there are two departments the Emergency department and the Urgent care department, usually only the physician's working in the emergency department are trained in emergency medicine.
Physicians trained in emergency medicine are some of the highest paid physicians .There services are higher than a regular MD because they have more training. The bills you receive from the E. R. is a lot higher than the one's you'll receive in Urgent Care in the same building for that reason. The services you receive from the emergency physicians however is more valuable than the price you'll pay, since they have the ability to stabilize and treat a variety of things. When arriving at any emergency room you never know what physician you'll get this is largely because they work in shifts, and those shifts vary maybe they work three to four days a week, or a week and off a week at different hours an different times, and it is not uncommon for an emergency room physician to work eighty or more hours each week. The schooling requirement for an emergency medical physician is an extra three years after medical school. The first year emergency physicians make an annual income of about 160,000 more experienced physicians make close to 3,0000 annually .Emergency medical physician are often very stressed because there schedules are long and grueling but if they took on the career for the right reasons then they are able to over come must job related stress. The best thing about an emergency physician, in most emergencies they know something about she situation. For instance they are trained in almost all medical condition so they can respond quicker in an emergency than any other physician. They also have put time into the extra three years of schooling and therefore would like to do a good job .Emergency physician are also the first to see a patient before they are admitted for a hospital stay. It is not uncommon if that physician doesn't drop by your hospital room often. Most emergency physician truly care about people and that is why they choose the career they did. If an emergency arises we all want the best of care and the best person to give us that care is someone trained in that field.You wouldn't want a plumber working on your automobile, you'd want a mechanic.When it comes to your health in an emergency don't wait to see your MD go to the emergency room. Think of it as the plumber working on your automobile, perhaps the plumber could get your car going down the road but it will probably stop again. If you need emergency medicine or treatment than perhaps antibiotics prescribed by your MD might get you going down the road again but only an emergency physician can stabilize your condition enough for those antibiotics to work.
