Knowing that drugs sometimes cause undesirable side-effects and that drugs have not been designed to be used on long terms, you would wish to consider having recourse to natural remedies to cure acid reflux. This article deals about the changes you should bring to your lifestyle.

If you smoke, you should seriously consider stopping. Smoking not only relaxes the muscles that prevent the acids present your stomach from reaching the esophagus but it also dries your saliva. The latter is known to help digestion and neutralize those acids.

The next thing to consider reducing or even banning is alcoholic drinks. If research has showed that red wine is beneficial for health, research has also shown that this is a source of trouble for those suffering from acid reflux.

Moreover, you should in no case take-in copious dinners just before going to bed. While dining, make sure that you sit in an upright position. I would suggest that you think about light dinners. It is recommend that you allow 2 hours for digestion and that you consider doing some light exercises to ease digestion.

You should also pay special attention to your diets. Try to first identify the foods and beverages that cause acid reflux. Make it a point to integrate fresh fruits and vegetables into your diets. These are rich in fibers and will help your metabolism eliminate wastes. You should however avoid the acidic ones such as oranges and lemons while preferring papayas which ease the absorption of proteins.

I also recommend you taking-in some fresh ginger (500 mg according to herbalists) half an hour before dinner and green tea after dinner. Those are known to have many benefits which help reduce acid reflux.

Finally, do raise your bed at its head by some 10 centimeters. This would prevent you from suffering from acid reflux at night.
