How To Treat Oligospermia (Low Sperm Count)?

Submitted by andywood

A low sperm count (oligospermia) is one cause of male infertility. Oligospermia is defined as having less than 20 million sperm per milliliter of ejaculate. Although it takes only a single sperm to fertilize an egg (ovum), the odds of a single sperm reaching the egg are very low.

According to medical researches up to 15 percent of couples in the US are infertile. Infertility is defined as a disability to get pregnant despite having frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year.

In order to father a child, at least 60 percent of sperm should show normal motility (forward movement) and have a normal shape. These numbers are a bit approximate because a lot of men with lower sperm counts have fathered children. Likewise, some men with higher spermatozoa counts have been unable to father children.

Oligospermia has many different causes, as many different medical conditions can reduce sperm count. These conditions include toxins in food, using tobacco, alcohol, too warm clothes, and some medications. Oligospermia causes include Testosterone supplements, anabolic steroids and some other drugs. Even using personal lubricants and lotions during sex can cause oligospermia.

To prevent oligospermia we recommend to use multivitamin complex, which provides selenium, zinc, folic acid and vitamins C and E, for optimal sperm production and function, reduce stress and watch your weight. Making regular exercises is the best prevention for low sperm count.

There are not many real medical oligospermia treatments. These medications include hoemeopathic and herbal pills. One of them is a well-known Speman. It promotes spermatogenesis by improving the testicular, seminal vesicle and epididymal functions. Speman improves the sperm concentration and the quality of semen by increasing the LH-FSH, producing basophil cells in the pituitary. Speman is a herbalmineral fomula that has shown excellent results in cases of common benign prostate enlargement.

But as many doctors say, the simplest way of increasing your chances of getting your wife pregnant is to have sex frequently – the more the sperm you deposit, the better your chances of hitting the jackpot. So don't forget to exercise and you'll forget this illness forever.
