Having an iron deficiency is based off a loss of iron in your diet. The iron that is needed for your body comes through a form of minerals, meaning that it has to be taken through dietary supplements or through a daily intake of food. As the iron moves into your body, it is able to assist with the circulation of oxygen through your lungs and body. This combines with moving the iron into your muscles so it can work as a way to store oxygen needed for later use. Iron is also known to assist with the digestive process, while providing extra energy through the use of oxygen.

The many functions of iron are considered essential for the overall health of the body, especially when relating to the circulation system and the respiratory system. If you have a deficiency, then your ability to function with everyday activities or the ability to process information at a regular pace may not be available. While fatigue is noted at the earlier stages of this type amenia, not getting enough iron in your system may also lead to other problems. If this deficiency continues, then your immune system may lose some of it's abilities and infections in your digestive system may become a problem, which leads to more susceptibility of diseases.

Typically, you can detect if you don't have enough iron in your system because it will show in your blood system. Doctors and physicians can detect the amount of iron in your system through simple blood tests available. However, if you feel fatigued or slower with your functioning, then you can consider preventive methods by adding in additional vitamin C or iron supplements. Adding in foods that consist of dairy, meat, fish, beans or eggs can also assist you in getting a higher level of iron in your system.

If you believe that you have iron deficiency amenia, then it is important to find an alternative way to balance out the number of nutrients you are eating every day. Understanding the specific problems with this and identifying the various symptoms is the beginning to getting the best results for your body to remain balanced. Through simple identification and a re-balance of your daily intake of food is the ability to assist your body in moving back to a normal level of iron, while providing your body with the movement of oxygen for the best balance.
