Natural Remedies For ArthritisSubmitted by justinkenedy Tue, 26 May 2009
People throughout history have found that there are various remedies that one may create in the comfort of the home in order to effectively treat certain medical diseases and conditions. There are millions of people that have arthritis around the world. Many people with arthritis do not have medical insurance, or the financial means to acquire medical help to assist them in living life easily with their condition. For these individuals, there are many effective home remedies. Here, you will find many of the effective home remedies for arthritis that have proven successful to many people for numerous years.
1 Fish Oil - Personally, I recommend eating your cold water fish (cod, mackerel, herring, sardines, salmon, ect.) to get your omega 3's but since most prefer fried fish or don't like fish at all, you can always opt for fish oil, either in liquid form or in capsules. Frankly, I have not found a better food than cold water fish that will help with inflammation in joints. Fish oil is good for all types of arthritis...even metabolic arthritis aka gout. 2 Maintain a vegetarian diet - studies have shown that reducing the amount of saturated fat intake and increasing the amount of unsaturated fat can help to alleviate the pain caused by arthritis. A vegetarian diet almost eliminates the intake of saturated fat. 3.Maintain a balanced mental health - avoiding stress and depression can help in the prevention of bouts of arthritis and help to maintain a healthy overall mental state. Other natural arthritis remedies include the herb white willow, for pain management, and the supplement MSM. Both have an anti-inflammatory effect. MSM needs to be taken in large quantities to be effective in pain relief, but it does work very well. White willow can be taken as an oral supplement, and it can be mixed into a tincture prepared by a herbalist. It can also be used externally, mixed with aloe vera and rubbed onto the affected joints. Peppermint oil, another popular additive to this kind of remedy, has a large amount of the biochemicals menthol and the related compounds menthone and menthyl esters. Their pain relieving actions are similar to the volatile oil of mustard mentioned above and will enhance the analgesic properties of any oil or liniment. Boswellia has anti-inflammatory effects similar to Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) (Advil, Aleve, Tylenol etc.) but this herb does not have side effects and does not causes gastrointestinal bleeding. It improves circulation to the joints, relieves pain, inflammation and stiffness. Go for carrot juice fast. Vegetable juice fast is quite effective in reducing pain for most patients with arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis. You can also fast on celery juice, cabbage juice or tomato juice. You need to fast on vegetable juice for at least a day during the first week at the beginning phase. Once you start with this routine, you can follow it by fasting on vegetable juice for alternate days. However, fasting should be approved by your health care practitioners after seeing your health condition.
