Natural Remedies For BoilsSubmitted by justinkenedy Fri, 29 May 2009
A boil is a red, swollen, painful bump under the skin. Boil or furuncle is a skin disease caused by the inflammation of hair follicles , thus resulting in the localized accumulation of pus and dead tissues. Individual boils can bunch together and form an interconnected network of boils called carbuncles . In severe cases, boils may develop to form abscesses . Boils are usually caused by a bacteria named Staphylococcus Aureus which are normally found on the skin surface. Furuncles may occur in the hair follicles anywhere on the body, but they are most common on the face, neck, armpit, buttocks, and thighs.
If you're wondering how to get rid of boils, don't worry. There are a number of boil treatments available and they're very effective. The first step is to look at the abscess to determine if it is really a boil. A boil will usually have warmth and swelling and will probably be red with a yellow center. Tips on Home Remedies for Boils 1. Ever since the time of the onset of human civilization neem or margosa has been famous for having medicinal properties. For treating boils at first you should take some neem seeds and then boil them in water until they become soft. The neem leaves are then smashed to make a pulp and should be applied on the boil area as poultice. The neem poultice works as a powerful disinfectant and would help to restrict the bacterial germ from spreading to other unaffected parts of the skin. 2. Another option among home remedies for boil incorporates a treatment of garlic and onion. Press or crush out juice from both vegetables, and combine equal quantities of both juices to create a solution that can be applied to the boil. Simultaneously, to intensify the properties of garlic, supplement these particular home remedies for boil, and consume two to three pods of garlic during each ingested meal for enhanced results. 3. Another way to cure boils is to take a solution of one teaspoon of turmeric powder in about four ounces of water. Taking this solution three times a day can help cure the boil in as little as two days. Turmeric is a fairly common spice that can often be found in the ethnic foods aisle of most grocery stores, near curry and other predominantly Indian foods. 4. Onion and garlic are both known for treating boils efficiently. They help to form the head of the boil which on getting matured would discharge the pus at the very early stage of the boil development. 5. Take a slice of bacon, roll it in salt and place between two pieces of cloth. Apply to the boil and repeat throughout the day. Although it can be messy, the fat and salt content will help bring it to a head. You can also try cutting a thick slice of onion and placing it on top of the boil. 6. While the vegetable is hot, wrap it in either muslin or linen cloth that is clean, and, as combined home remedies for boil, apply, as the form of a poultice, to the affected boil.
