If you are one of those people who get rained on a little and get bogged down by the flu the next day, you are probably sick of having coughs and colds and sick of taking medicine over and over again. Sometimes, it is good to know that there are a lot of herbal remedies that are available, effective, easy to use and can replace the mundane cough syrup and escape its side effects.
The main signs that indicate the presence of cold & cough are running or blocked nose sneezing , sore throat , congestion, headache, low fever with body pain, loss of appetite, lethargy and sleeplessness. Remedies 1. A two-ingredient home remedies for cough incorporates one tablespoon full of the purest of honey and a generous pinch of white pepper. Top the spoonful of honey with the pepper, and administer orally. Should the cough-afflicted desire to bring up more mucus, and then use black pepper in place of the white pepper. In conjunction with the honey and pepper regimen, drink hot tea with a piece of ginger placed into the cup or mug. 2. Whenever there is a cold, the first precaution is to keep the nose and mouth clean. This will keep the infection from going down into the lungs and causing further trouble. 3. One essential item that is neglected far too often is plain water. It has mucous thinning properties when drunk, gargled with a little salt or when used in a humidifier. The old school mentality was that the more water that a patient drank the quicker the virus was washed out of the body. 4. Drink much warm water. Cool water will cause you sneezing in the morning, but if you regularly drink warm water it will help you to remove those common health problems very smoothly. Warm water is very good as natural remedies with no cost. 5. Aloe vera Mix equal parts of aloe juice and honey. This is very good for a scratchy cough. Take some eucalyptus leaves and mint leaves and boil them together in water. Now inhale its vapors. It will help you in curing your cough and is also one of the good home remedies for cough. 6. Garlic is a remedy for whooping cough. Crush the cloves of garlic and extract the juice. Take 1 tsp of the juice twice a day. 7. Take licorice root powder with honey three times a day. Not indicated for high blood pressure patients. 8. Some of the older cures are harder to come by. One example of these cures is a mix of the juices of leeks and fresh breast milk of a nursing mother. Another less palatable remedy involved boiling two or three snails in barley water. You may not want to go through all this trouble for a cough. 9. Grapes act as an expectorant. Grapes tone up the lungs and acts as an expectorant, giving relief from simple cold and cough in a couple of days. A cup of grape juice mixed with honey gives good relief from cough.
