Optimal Nutrition

Submitted by jimzimm

Dr. Linus Pauling said, “Optimal nutrition is the medicine of the future.” But what is optimal nutrition? Optimal nutrition is the level of nutrients shown in the medical
literature to produce health benefits.

How do we achieve optimal nutrition? The answer is antioxidants. Antioxidants
are your body’s defense against aging, sickness and disease.

Antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables. They are also found in other types of foods such as nuts, oils, and beans but according to the Journal of the American Medical Association, the current North American diet, while sufficient to prevent vitamin deficiency diseases (such as scurvy and rickets), is inadequate to support the needs for optimal health (JAMA 19, 2002).

Since we are not getting enough nutrients from the foods we eat the next solution
is in high quality vitamin supplements, but not all supplements are beneficial. They must be absorbed by our body and should include many types of antioxidants,
combined properly.

How to select a good supplement:

*The manufacturer should adhere to pharmaceutical-grade GMPs (Good
Manufacturing Practices).
* The supplement should be bioavailable with correct ratios.
* USP should be on the label, which means the product meets the U.S.
Pharmacopoeia standards for all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements, and other healthcare products manufactured and sold in the United States.
* The product should be independently tested.
* The product should be taken every 8-12 hours, since your body will take what it needs at that time and eliminate the rest.
