Getting The Best Sleep Ever

Submitted by thewidestselection

Sometimes when I'm stressed out, I get into bed and start to go to sleep.

But then, my mind starts off on some loop-the-loop over an issue that I'm currently dealing with. It might be financial, it might be the health of a friend, it might be that I need to talk to someone about an issue that I know is not going to be pleasant.

One thing that I've found to work really well if I'm in a stressed out time in my life, is to make sure I do some exercise that day.

And I know that the experts say that it's far better to exercise in the morning, but if I exercise around 1-2 hours before I plan to go to bed, my body is not tight and tense from a whole day of stress.

Now, I don't mean that you go for a 10 mile run. Or that you do an hour of high intensity cardio. I just do around 20-30 minutes of medium intensity walking or similiar, just enough to burn off all of that tension.

Then I have a shower, and after the shower, I turn off the water and I feel calm and still. My mind is not rushing. My neck and back is relaxed.

If you think this may also work for you, please give it a try and see how you go.

Remember, it's not a high intensity workout. Medium intensity is what works for me, it may work for you too.
Now, I have to be the first to admit that sometimes, I wake up and don't feel nearly as refreshed as I should.

I've had 7-8 hours sleep, but I feel just as tired as I did when I first went to bed. I feel like I'm just about ready for a "good nights sleep". And I feel like I've been ripped off. I went to bed early, got to sleep, but didn't get the benefit.

You may have heard of sleep rhythms. These are different times during the night while you are asleep.

If you disturb these sleep rhythms (by waking up during the night, turning on the light, and going to the toilet or the kitchen), your body will not allow itself to fall back into the correct sleep pattern.

It is very important that you get a block of usually 7-8 hours of undisturbed sleep.

This is just one of the important principles that, if you learn them, will help you get a better nights sleep, and hence a better "tomorrow". As you cannot achieve all that you want to achieve if you are running on empty.

There is a sleep training course that you can do to to learn this and many other aspects of getting the best sleep you can. If you are tired, you should try it out.

Check out this site by Yan Muckle (see below). He has developed a great set of tools for getting to sleep, and staying asleep.

He suffered from sleeping problems himself, so he has an understanding of what you might be going through.

Anyway, if you think you might benefit from better sleep, and get you life back on track, have a good look at Yan's tools at Sometimes when I'm stressed out, I get into bed and start to go to sleep.
