When you realize that you are feeling stressed there are many different types of stress relievers you can use. You may have to experiment a little to find the perfect form of stress relief for you, but it is essential that you do find some kind of relief in order to keep your body healthy.

For many people taking a walk in the fresh air every day will help soothe their stressed emotions. Others like to exercise on a regular basis as a means of relieving the symptoms of stress and fell better about themselves as they keep their bodies fit.

Writing down your thoughts in a journal is a stress reliever in which you can gain a greater insight into what is causing you stress. Through the writing you are able to put your thoughts into words, even though you are not talking to another person.

In this way you can reflect on your day and realize that the situation is not as bad as you first thought. You can also come up with solutions to some of your problems in this way and so relieve the stress.

Talking about your stress is a good stress reliever as well. This is especially true if you can discuss the problems with a person who is causing you to feel stressed. You may also be able to relieve some of the stress caused by another person by speaking with a person in authority who is in a position to make changes in the situation.

You may not always be able to pinpoint the reasons for your stress. Experts will tell you that practicing techniques of meditation on a daily basis will help in calming your mind and body and help you relax. When you meditate, your heart rate and breathing slow down and your blood pressure lowers to a normal level.

Since your heart rate and blood pressure are elevated when you are under a lot of stress, you can bring relief to your circulatory system as you meditate. It takes time to learn how to meditate. You should not expect immediate results and you should start off with short sessions. If you even have five minutes where you can be free of distractions, you can greatly benefit from using this time to meditate.

Yoga is a stress reliever for many people. The techniques used in Yoga are directly related to stress relieving techniques, such as controlled breathing, meditation, stretching and physical movement. It will give you a sense of well-being which is essential in reducing stress. Once you learn the poses, you can practice this just about anywhere.

Laughter is the best medicine for stress relief. Surround yourself with friends that you enjoy being with. Even though you may not feel like it, going out with friends for a meal or a few drinks can do wonders for your mood. It will leave you with a good feeling about life and prepare you to tackle the causes of your stress.

Hobbies are wonderful stress relievers as well. As you lose yourself in the project, you take your mind off your problems and you feel great. Whether you knit, engage in woodworking or gardening, as long as it is an activity that you enjoy, it will help relieve your stress.
