The Importance Of Vitamin B 12

Vitamin B 12 is one of the B vitamins that are essential to maintaining a healthy body. Also known as Cobalamin, the 12b vitamin is needed for the process to convert carbohydrates, lipids and proteins of food into energy. Similarly, 12b, more importantly, helps maintain the health of red blood cells and therefore prevent heart disease and the maintenance of the immune system to function at its highest level. In addition, 12b is used to create the protective nerve cells in the body.

The most important function of 12 b is to form healthy red blood cells. However, all cells need 12 b to keep them healthy. These are white blood cells, among others, that need 12 b to ensure that the immune system to function properly. All nerve cells in the body also need 12 b to form the protective fatty layer. This is essential for all nerves, but is especially true for those in the brain. If there are not enough 12 b to create this protective layer, the brain is not functioning properly.

Interestingly, the amount of 12 b that the body needs is relatively small but is needed on a regular basis. However, 12b, on its own is not enough that the body can absorb easily. To help the body absorb 12 b the stomach produces intrinsic factor which enables more than 12 b to be absorbed. 12b is found only in foods of animal origin such as liver, eggs, fish and meat, but most people consume much more than your recommended daily amount of 12 b. This is not a problem as the body can only absorb about half of the 12 b that is consumed. It should also be noted that the body can recycle the 12 b, which reduces the impact of a deficit of 12b. However, strict vegetarians or vegans May require 12 b supplements if they do not eat any animal products that contain 12 b.

If the body does not have enough 12 b then anemia is the most obvious symptom. Obviously, this is because there is not enough to make red blood cells 12b. Anemia can also be caused by the body not creating enough intrinsic factor to help absorb the 12 b, which is available in the foods consumed. The body tends to makes less intrinsic factor once a person reaches 50 years and this will lead to a reduction in the absorption of 12b and 12b of the supplements May be required. Children are also at risk of anemia because they can not eat foods that contain 12 b. Pregnant women need more 12 b because the baby is absorbing 12 b during the pregnancy to grow properly.
