Many patients make the mistake of thinking medical imaging is simply getting an X-ray taken. Little do they realize the field of medical imaging is a diverse and growing industry. As a matter of fact, next time you are going to the imaging department of a hospital there is a good chance it wouldn't even be an X-ray but something like an MRI or CR system. That's how much this field has changed in the last few years.

In general, the field of radiology can be broken down into four distinct areas of specialty. This would be diagnostic, interventional, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. Diagnostic radiological procedures are commonly used in hospitals and doctor's office as a means of preventative medicine practices. These are your MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, CR systems, CR solutions, X-rays and angiography. Your doctor would use these methods as a way to check the systems of your body to see if there are any unknown problems.

Interventional methods are a sometimes non-intrusive alternative to surgery. You'll find this ranges from biopsies, cancer treatments, angioplasty, embolization, cardiology PACS, vertebroplasty, CR solutions with CR software, and varicose vein treatments. Nuclear medicine is a wonderful and easy method of assessing damage done to the heart, lungs, thyroid, liver, gallbladder and bones.

Tumors can do a great deal of damage. CR solutions implementing CR software is a trauma free means of monitoring and tracking physiological damage done by them and their growth progression. Radiation therapy is often also used as a way of treating brain tumors and cancers, ranging from breast, colorectal, head, neck, lung and prostate.

Radiological methods such as some CR systems are often used as a way of detecting stroke symptoms. Strokes are normally caused by blood clots to the brain. The procedure to help the patient is to try and dissolve these blood clots through an intravenously injected tissue plasminogen activator. Technology now allows this CR system to place the clot-busting drug right at the site of the stroke and will mechanically break up the clot.

Thanks to CR solutions and this amazing minimally invasive procedure, stroke patients are beginning to fully recover and regain functionality again in their everyday lives. Now longer is treatment the problem. The actual challenge is getting enough properly trained stroke teams ready to handle patients using this new CR software.

More and more health professionals are singing the praises of medical imaging such as CR solutions and cardiology PACS. As a matter of fact, radiology for health prevention and testing is probably one of the biggest lifesavers. Ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and mammograms now possess the ability to help keep patients healthy who would have otherwise not made it.
