The Different Methods of Medical Imaging and Radiology

Many patients make the mistake of thinking medical imaging is simply getting an X-ray taken. Little do they realize the field of medical imaging is a diverse and growing industry. In general, the field of radiology can be broken down into four distinct areas of specialty. This would be diagnostic, interventional, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. Diagnostic radiological procedures are commonly used in hospitals and doctor's office as a means of preventative medicine practices. Interventional methods are a sometimes non-intrusive alternative to surgery.
