Tips to Get Rid of TensionSubmitted by remediesathome Mon, 3 Aug 2009
Speaking from experience, stress can wreak havoc on your health. Whether the stress is from your environment (too cold, too warm, chemical toxins in the air), your body (a diet lacking key nutrients -- as 90% of American diets are, poor posture) or your thoughts (worried about health, worried about financial situations) your body responds by tightening up.
Have you suffered from a headache that seemed like there was a vice tightening around your head? It's a feeling like someone has a rope around the crown of your head just pulling on it. It hurts so bad that you can not think straight. I experienced this type of headache a few years ago. Whether it's a boss breathing down your shoulder or the mere sight of a mountain of paperwork that you need to deal with - you should temporarily steer clear of these factors which are causing the pressures in your life. You'll be surprised at how spending even half a day away from whatever is causing you stress can give you a fresher perspective on things. It's the best method to relieve anxiety. They are very easy to perform while you can be transported to very different world if you execute them with sheer dedication. You can practice yogic postures in order to get rid of stress. They have the power to soothe your mind, body and soul. They will purify your soul and encourage you to look at life little differently. Before you submerge yourself into another method of how to get rid of negative feelings, I want to share what has helped me. I can truly say that if you can master this, then you'll be able to handle your negative feelings a lot better in the long run, rather than just deal with the symptoms for a brief moment(e.g. do something, it goes away, it comes back later, repeat, etc.). Remaining in poor posture for extended periods puts a strain on already tense muscles. Fatigue sets in as blood flow decreases, resulting in knots and muscle spasms. This causes even tighter muscles and more severe symptoms, which cause tension headaches. Do you research and recognize what's wrong. Understanding why you feel the way you do and talking about it is the first step. See your GP - who can assess your symptoms against a patient health questionnaire, and diagnose you. It usually your GP who treats you, but you may be referred to a psychiatrist. Do you see something common in all these situations however? It feels like all of these scenarios deal with one common thing, and that is how we react to being evaluated by others. Social anxiety, in another way, can also be referred to evaluation anxiety because our anxiety is rooted from how we feel others are evaluating us like your boss, your friends, or even your date sitting across from you at the table. Your lower back muscles will begin to relax, the longer you perform this breathing exercise, your muscles will become more relaxed. Do not be surprised if your back skeletal joints start 'cracking' as tension is released.
