Menstruation is the term used for the natural monthly cycle of periods in the female body. Periods are when the unfertilized eggs are ejected out of the reproductive system along with blood and several other tissue cells. This flow happens once a month. The flow is profuse on one particular day of the month. However the discomfort of the periods could generally last for three days.

Now, the problem most of the teen girls face during their menses is the menstrual cramps. This causes a lot of discomfort and with it comes major stress. The pain is felt in the lower abdomen, possibly extending to the hips, lower back or thighs. Some may also experience nausea, fever, vomiting, diarrhea and body aches. Mild abdominal cramps on the first two days of your menses are nothing to be worried about but, there are almost 10 % of girls out there who get unable to manage their routine tasks unless they take some medication.
Treatment:
1. Ginger: this is a good stimulating herb, so it is advised not to use this herb right before bedtime because it might make you perspire, or it might make you experience a hot flash. Grate fresh ginger and boil in fresh water for about 20 minutes, remove from the stove/heat and allow to cool a little and drink up. You can also use powdered ginger if you like.

2. Herbs like Ashoka and Lodra are two of them. If there is hormonal insufficiency, it is to be corrected supplying some hormonal replacement etc. Many holistic healers believe that if the stress and anxiety are main culprit, better to perform meditation and yogasanas that help in tackling mental problems to treat menstruation problems.

3. Diet and Nutrition A low-fat diet made up largely of vegetables, fruits, and starches can lower estrogen levels significantly. Foods rich in bioflavonoids with vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, grapes, apricots, tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, cherries, and rosehips, can strengthen blood vessels.

4. Irregular menstruation natural treatment also includes some holistic healing techniques (such as holistic exercises like yoga and Pranayama) that help in calming down the aggressive mood and also to check out the imbalance in the female hormones. Generally, the herbs that contain healing properties help alleviating more than one health problems.

5. The treatment for menstrual disorder might include lifestyle modification (such as dietary changes, exercises) or medicines. If these options do not work to cease the problem, surgery (such as dilation and curettage, endometrial resection or ablation) might be advised in some cases.

6. Hysteroscopic Endometrial Ablation. It is a non-invasive surgical procedure and recovery from it would take just a few days. This surgical procedure is also known as the "roller ball surgery". This method of surgery eliminates menstruation problem

7. This fragrant herb is efficient in stimulating menstrual cycles. It helps women who have delayed periods to get their periods on time. Young anemic girls are prone to spasmodic menstruation, which can be quite painful. A decoction of dill is prepared with the leaves of parsley to treat such problems.
