Is there any way to know if you are using the asthma inhaler correctly? It is true that medical advice, pharmacists, the internet and regular users of asthma inhalers, all openly share knowledge and tips on how to properly use an inhaler. But getting used to an asthma inhaler is no easy task.

The rule of the thumb for any asthmatic patient is to have a rescue inhaler at work, at home, in the purse, in the car and in everywhere you go.
However, you should remember that although it is called a rescue inhaler it does not do any rescuing if you wait until the last moment to inhale it. Therefore asthma inhalers should be used at the initial sign of symptoms, not only when you are running short of breath.

Is there a time to use and a time not to use asthma inhalers? Many people seem confused about this question. So let's see if we can clarify our doubts with the following tips.

Studies say pace makers improve your condition by 175%. So let's get used to a space maker from now on.

Do you use the inhaler as prescribed? If you do, no problem! But if you don't,.. there's going to be trouble

Your condition seem to have improved over the past months.

My spacer whistles, is that a problem? Sure it is... you are not using it properly.

If I forget to carry my asthma inhaler, I'd die of a panic attach that will trigger asthma attacks. Oh no! this is something that you should get rid of.. relax your mind and soul and get in to some meditation.

Your inhaler is two years old? What??? Get rid of it immediately. Inhalers should be replaced every 6-12 months.

If you get an awful taste of Ventolin in your mouth soon after using your asthma inhaler, something is frightfully wrong.

I have been prescribed only one inhaler all my life. Very good! That's a start and you are on the right track on managing asthma.

Remember that if you cannot live without an inhaler, it is a sign of asthma which is poorly controlled. As much as it is a physiological disease, there is some mental component in it too. So don't let you mind drive you mad over forgetting the inhaler, next time you go somewhere!.

Most asthma attacks are sparked by panic rather than allergens. If the condition has repeated over time, now is the time to work on it and make a difference. Remember taking control over asthma does not mean rejecting medication. It simply means using your asthma inhaler and other medications as prescribed and when needed.
