Using Hypnosis Instructions to Manipulate your Mind

Submitted by oursuccess

Hypnotists love to make hypnosis look dark mystical and complicated. They want you to believe that they have exceptional powers that no-one else owns.

I enjoy to making things vivid and well-defined and exposed, and I do not lay claim to any particular abilities. In this 1st chapter I am going to ask you to try out several things and to flirt with them. These things are elementary and unremarkable, and will turn out to be not at all mystifying, and yet they are a basis on which much of hypnosis is established.

Words can trigger pictures in your mind.

This must seem a fairly apparent concept. You need only think of reading a book and recall the images that spring to mind as you do so to understand the plain truth of this. But it is nevertheless worth doing a little practice session on it, as follows.

First just imagine of yourself, "I am on vacation." STOP NOW; did you see a scene of it in your head? Individuals vary, but it is improbable, in the very little time I allowed you, that you experienced anything very distinctly.

Now permit yourself more TIME. Imagine, "I am on vacation." Hesitate. "It is my favorite spot." Pause. "The weather conditions are exactly how I prefer it." Pause. "I am wearing my favorite clothes." Pause. "I am doing my very favorite thing." Pause. "I am on vacation!"

In all likelihood that extra time was rewarded by a very much more intense image or images in the mind. But it is most effective, particularly if you are a pupil of hypnosis, to get somebody else to do the same thing, possibly with you stating the words: "Imagine yourself on vacation." Hesitate. "It is your favorite kind of weather." etc.

In this manner you will find out for yourself the concept that individuals can have rather dissimilar levels of understandability of image, and the images themselves can be rather dissimilar. I, for instance, normally manage merely washed-out out images.

The conclusions I would anticipate you to be in agreement with, after some experience, are the following:

1) Words can result in images in the mind.
2) It calls for a bit of time for them to develop.
3) The time involved and their quality deviates from person to person.
