Apparently, all people tend to hide those particular things that are perceived to cause disgrace. Vaginal irritation is one of those ailments that will make any woman disguise her pain while the infection tortures her vaginal flesh progressively. It seems that not one woman want to risk being renowned for an imperfection she caused when some yogurt was spotted trickling down her striking legs instead of the usual red drop that they are all aware of.

Vaginal irritation is thought to be caused by usual yeast infection and/or bacterial vaginosis or even sexually transmitted diseases. Among the symptoms of Bacterial vaginosis, that happens when the bacteria present in the vagina abnormally increases in number, is vaginal irritation accompanied with foul-smelling discharge, burning feeling and pain. Vaginal yeast infection - primarily caused by the overgrowth of a certain fungi located in the vagina. As an unpleasant effect of this condition, the labia, as well as the vagina itself becomes enlarged and red causing severe vaginal irritation these infections are common among pregnant women and diabetics. It may also be a side effect after taking antibiotics as well as birth control medicines. Certain types of condoms, spermicidal and cervical cups may cause vaginal irritation. Sensitivity to perfumes and scented products, sprays, powders and lotions are potential causes of this vaginal irritation too.

If you have had a prior vaginal irritation and are certain your current symptoms are the same as they were during that previous infection, self-treatment with a non prescription medication may be effective. If you decide to use a self prescribed medication for a vaginal irritation, be sure your symptoms designate yeast infection prior to you beginning self-treatment.Follow the directions on package inserted manual. It is hard to differentiate between yeast infections symptoms from those of other vaginal infections because they are almost alike.

Since vaginal irritation can be as a result of yeast infections, ingestion of acidophilus milk or eating yogurt with live lactobacillus on a regular basis may have some benefit in preventing vaginal yeast infections. Avoid extreme clean-up of the vaginal area. If sexual intercourse is painful, stop! or employ a water-soluble lubricating jelly to reduce irritation. If the genital area is swollen or painful, sitting in warm water in a bathtub, NOT a hot tub may assist. Report your symptoms to your health expert if you are not certain that you have a yeast infection and if your self-treatment is not working after one complete route of treatment.

The danger of self-curing is that your symptoms may be caused by a type of vaginal infection other than a yeast infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a sexually transmitted disease. Non-prescription treatment can be tried for vaginal itching and vaginal irritation, but if pelvic pain, fever, or burning with urination is at hand, assessment by a health expert is desirable.
Still in treating vaginal irritation its important to subside the triggering infections like In case of bacterial vaginosis, taking antibiotics is the best remedy. For yeast infections, the irritation felt in the exterior genitals may be alleviated with the application of anti-fungal creams that are available without a prescription.

Prevention is better than cure and so, cleaning your vagina as often is essential. Try to discover and perform hygienic procedures. Stick to using underwear made of cotton only. Vaginal irritation may be avoided by refraining from using tight-fitting clothes too.
