So you can’t see without your glasses and you just cannot wear contact because they bother your eyes. Whatever the case may be for your dislike for wearing glasses from just plain tired of wearing glasses or from them fogging up on you on a damp day to hating to switch from regular glasses to prescription sun glasses whenever you go out. It could be that you are not a person who likes to put stuff in your eyes so you rule out contact lenses. If any of these are bothering you, then the likely scenario for you to consider would be LASIK surgery. LASIK surgery is now common place for people looking to improve their vision. With that said you will have to be educated on the subject before making any final decisions on having LASIK surgery done.

Many people have undergone LASIK surgery and most have been very successful with the procedure. But like most procedures there are some risks involved. However, don’t panic. The complication of laser surgery is low, somewhere in the 1% to 5% percent ratio. It is also important to note that not all patients achieve the 20/20 vision that is sought. They do however achieve better vision and the likelihood of being able to get rid of those glasses. An example of this is with people with myopia who have undergone the LASIK surgery as a corrective procedure. They still will need reading glasses when they get around 50 years of age.

Because LASIK surgery for the most part is an irreversible procedure, most insurance companies do not cover it. However, with the big push toward wellness in this day and age, there are some insurance companies who will cover part of this procedure as they realize that they will not have to foot the bill for glasses or contacts. If you are going to be paying for your procedure out of your pocket, it is best that you to make sure the surgery are performed by an experienced Ophthalmologist. You definitely want to make sure that you will get your moneys worth. It also would be worthwhile to check into places that offer financing and to also check out the types of guarantees that they offer in case the procedure does not work for you.

Hopefully this will help you be aware of what you are facing with LASIK surgery. It is important to make sure that you take the time to research the procedure thoroughly. Make sure to have a lengthy discussion with an experienced Ophthalmologist to determine if this is the right thing for you to do or not. If you like what you hear, than LASIK surgery is a great way to achieve the goal of correcting your vision.
