Why Eye Exercise Works

Submitted by seanicasia

We all know how essential it is to keep ourselves fit by doing activities such as going to the gymnasium, running, and swimming. But, did you realize that you can work out your eyes too? While vision exercise won't enhance your sight 100%, it will ensure your eyes stay strong and reduce strain on the eyes.
And when you keep your eyes healthy, chances of you contracting various kinds of eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration or pink eye etc will become very, very low.
Ready to Get Started?

You can begin by trying the following:

Focus on any object towards the right of what you can see in front of you. Once you’ve selected this object, keep your eyes on it and stay focused.

Don't lose sight of the object as you start shifting your head to the opposite direction as much as you can. This means that while looking at the object on your right, you slowly turn your head to the left.

Do this again but in the other direction. This means now fixating on an object towards the left of what you can see in front of you, then slowly shifting your head towards the right, all this while still keeping your eyes glued to the same object.

Now do it upwards, downwards, and even in the top-left, top-right, bottom left and bottom right direction. All these different directions give your eye muscles the multi-directional workout it needs, and prevents one side of the muscles from being “over-trained”.

That would be considered as one whole set. You would want to try this at least 2 to 3 times a day, so as to achieve maximum results.

For the first few days, you might feel some aching, not unlike muscle aches after a gym workout. This is common. Just be sure not to over-exert yourself. Too much strain to the eyes are not good for your vision in the long run as well.
Try this activity out and your eyes will remain strong and healthy. And if you stick to a proper regime, you might not need any eye glasses or contact lenses.
