The South Beach diet program is one of the leading ways to lose weight today. It is styled around lifestyle and diet changes that help you steadily lose weight. By cutting out "bad" fats and carbohydrates and eating plenty of "good" ones, dieters can lose weight without feeling deprived or sacrificing their health.
There are three steps in the diet program. During phase one, dieters avoid all carbs except for vegetables. Although multiple foods are not allowed, dieters still have a variety of foods they can consume. Phase one is the most demanding phase, but also the quickest since it only goes on for fourteen days. Dieters can expect to lose ten pounds during this stage. In phase two, dieters begin reintroducing the previously banned carbohydrate-rich foods into their meals. Dieters are expected to lose 1 to 2 pounds each week while steadily increasing the amount of carbs they eat. The second phase lasts until dieters arrive at their ideal weight. The third phase is the maintenance phase. Dieters use their strategies they learned from phase two to maintain their goal weight throughout the rest of their lives. If dieters begin to gain weight, they are able to go back to phase one of the program. You've probably seen ready-made South Beach meals and snacks in the grocery store. These products are highly convenient, but you don't need to spend money on them in order to follow the diet. You just need to commit to the various general guidelines for each phase of the program. During the first phase of the diet, you are permitted to consume lean cuts of meat, such as fish, chicken, and turkey, eggs, most vegetables, nuts, and a small quantity of nonfat dairy products. Fruits and their juices are not eaten during this phase because they are high in sugar. Also restricted are all carbs, fatty meats, alcohol, and some vegetables that are rather high in sugar content, such as corn. The function of this phase is to ban "bad" carbs from your diet and jumpstart the process of losing weight. During phase two, dieters slowly reintroduce whole grains, fruit, and other banned foods into their diet. In the process, dieters discover how to adjust their diet strategies to maintain a desirable weight. Once this is successfully accomplished, the diet shifts into the life maintenance phase, in which dieters attempt to maintain the healthy strategies that brought them to their goal weight. The factor for success with the South Beach diet is committing to eating healthy. Although that sounds easy, this diet and most other diet programs fail to work because dieters abandon the diet before the program can achieve results. The problems that most people have with weight loss often come from deeper problems such as a lack of impetus to lose weight, a habit of overeating, or an inability to control the appetite. Fortunately, all of these problems are treatable with techniques that anyone can learn from a high quality hypnotherapy diet CD program. To remedy a lack of motivation, practices from a technology called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) will give you a strong desire to stick to your dieting goals. To begin, dieters identify precisely what things are most valuable to them, as an individual. This is called their "highly valued criteria." Another option is to make the dieter believe that if they don't lose weight, their valued criteria will be placed in jeopardy. Motivation comes from what we believe in, not from logic! So in the above example, let us say that the dieter's most valued desire is that the dieter's kids are safe and well. Using an NLP technique called Submodalities, we can lead the dieter into feeling that if he or she is unable to lose weight, the kids will be condemned to emulating their parent and they will also be fat and dissatisfied. This belief will provide a strong urge and feeling to stick to a diet and get the weight off. Many NLP techniques can help to reduce or even entirely remove the urges and cravings that prompt one to overeat. This works very well to help dieters stay on the initial and most challenging two weeks of the South Beach diet. Additionally, it helps dieters commit to an exercise program, which will enhance the effectiveness of any diet program. Stress is a factor that often drives people to eat too much or quit caring about their health, but relief can be provided by both NLP and hypnotic techniques. One such technique is called the NLP Flash. With the NLP Flash, having your unconscious mind use negative thoughts as triggers for relaxing thoughts eliminates the stress that causes the impulse to overeat. Out-of-control appetites often cause people to put on weight.
