Obesity is the root cause behind a plethora of life-threatening diseases like diabetes, cancers, heart attacks etc. and therefore losing weight is essentially an important task for overweight individuals to sustain a healthy way of living. There are various weight loss measures available in the market at present and most individuals find it a more lucrative proposition to indulge in quick weight loss measures. Some of these methods which promise quick weight loss can be discussed here. The means of losing weight quickly is supplemented a well balanced diet program and reducing the consumption of foods which increase weight. Several weight loss centers have mushroomed which offer quick weight loss facilities. In most of these weight loss centers, there are panels of experts who are certified medical practitioners and they study the overweight individuals and attain a total idea about the person's health. Then on the basis of his health conditions and requirements, a comprehensive diet chart is prepared by the expert with food low in carbohydrate, sodium and fats. On a daily basis about 1,000 to 1,500 calories are prescribed for consumption and the amount of calorie intake is also determined by the age and level of obesity of the individual. Fad diets are one of the prominent quick weight loss methods which include the consumption of liquid based foods.
While quick weight loss methods are often preferred by various obese people, it is a method which has earned a lot of flak from the experts and researchers only. This is due to various reasons. The Fad diets are extremely unhealthy as they cause weight cycling and are quite harmful. The quick weight loss programs alter an individual's daily diet to a considerable extent and such sudden changes are not quite healthy and since people are not used to it, they fail to stick on to it for a long stretch of time. A very harmful side effect of the quick weight loss methods are that it totally excludes the benefits of any form of physical activity which is extremely essential for weight loss. In the absence of any form of physical exercise, the individual may be susceptible to strokes or heart attacks. Moreover, it is argued amidst experts only that the quick weight loss methods are not effective on a long term basis and instead of benefiting the obese people, they cause damage like in case of fad diets and therefore it is advised that individuals should constrain themselves from getting lured by quick weight loss methods and indulge in a safer route.
