It does not matter what activity you choose anything from running to jogging, bicycling, swimming, fast walk etc., but you should stick with it. It is important to remember that in order to keep off the weight, once you get active; you need to stick with it. You can however at some point drop down the intensity to 3 to 4 times a week instead of daily to help maintain.

Eating healthy is another way that successful weight loss is achieved. On average the consumption of 1,400 calories per day with less than 25% from fat is a good rule to follow. Avoid eating out. Most places serve a portion that is much larger than the average person needs. It is also easier to keep track of your caloric intake when you make your own meals. Besides, you are less likely to cheat when you prepare your own meals. Never skip a meal. Eating breakfast will increase your metabolism which will in turn burn more calories per day. You should also try to eat on a regular schedule. This will also help to increase your metabolism.

Another way that people successfully keep off their weight is by weighing themselves on a regular basis. This way, they were able to catch any weight gains and take steps to correct them. Gaining a few pounds is common so don’t panic. It is preventing those one or two pounds from adding up that determines the success of your weight loss over the long term.

Set yourself some realistic goals for a 1 to 2 pound weight loss per week. Lose the weight slowly and it will tend to stay off easier. A combination of diet and exercise will in the long run help you to keep off the weight. Remember, weight loss is a lifestyle change. You cannot expect to go on a crash diet, exercise for a month or so to lose the weight and then stop and keep the weight off. You need to get into the mind frame that your life is going to change, but that change will be for the better.
