How does Lap-Band Surgery work-
The principle over which Lap-Band Surgery works is simple and viable. If you think about the reasons of obesity, there are many reasons like glandular diseases for example hypothyroidism and many more. Overeating is one of them. This is quite simple to think that, if you are gaining weight due to overeating. The solution is simple start eating less. Its not easy to eat less for the people who are in the habit of eating every time. These people suffer from “Head Hunger”. Head Hunger is the term used for mental craving. Physically these people are not hungry, but they feel that they are hungry and they keep eating every time. Lap-Band Surgery is done to reduce the size of the stomach. So, after eating small quantity of food people feel satisfied because now their stomach can contain only small quantity of food. After receiving small quantity of food a message is sent to the brain by the stomach that now there is no need to eat more. But, in the case when you are suffering from Head Hunger, you keep eating I spite of not having any need of eating.

What is Lap-Band Surgery-?
Lap-Band Surgery is the surgery done to insert an inflatable silicone prosthetic device called Lap-Band around the stomach. This Lap-Band is an adjustable device which is adjusted according to the need of the patient via the surgeon. Lap-Band which is placed around the stomach, which divides the stomach into two pouches. Upper pouch receives the food and as the food enters into the upper pouch its size increases and it applies pressure on the Lap-Band. Lap-Band inflates and person feels that his hunger has been satisfied. This way, person does not have to remain hungry because of dieting. Lap-Band Surgery can be done through Laparoscopic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery etc.

Reasons of failure-
After Lap-Band Surgery patients are advised by the doctor to keep a distance with alcoholic beverages, tea, coffee, etc. Foods such as pretzels, chips, sweets, pastas and baked goods are against the rules of weight loss surgery, yet these are the foods patients eat when suffering from Head Hunger. Eating these things becomes the weak point of patient. Though the patient knows very well that these things are forbidden to him but than also he cannot help eating. This brings the stall in the rate of success of Lap-Band Surgery. Though the success rate of Lap-Band Surgery is not 100%, but your control over your eating matters a lot. Some complications also may arise because of Lap-Band Surgery like nausea, vomiting, gastro esophageal reflux, stoma obstruction, constipation, dysphagia, diarrhea, and abnormal stools etc. but they all can be treated. Even some people have the Lap-Band Surgery removed because of complications. What all you are to do is to have patience. Before going for Lap-Band Surgery, you must make sure one thing while focusing on other things is to make a resolution that you will be having control over your eating after Lap-Band Surgery.
