This band is inserted into the stomach by making five small incisions 1.5mm long, this technique is called laparoscopic surgery. Other methods to insert Lap Band can also be used but, laparoscopic surgery is preferred because there is no pain, no longer stay in hospital and there is no cutting and stapling of stomach. Lap Band can be adjusted after the surgery according to need by the surgeon without any further operation.

After the surgery you are to take care of your diet also. Some eatable things are forbidden to you like coffee, tea, or soda drink. You should be aware that no caffeine is permitted for the first three months after surgery. Carbonated beverages may cause gas, bloating, and an increase in stomach size due to the carbonation. There may be some side effects also like heart burn and might continuously throw up until the body becomes accustomed to the Lap Band surgery.
