Weight loss is more complicated than most people realize. For example, if you eat less calories than your body burns up, you should lose weight. But you could be burning muscle, not fat, and that's definitely not what you want.

See A Doctor First

Get a full physical examination done before following any weight loss plan. Obesity can cause or aggravate diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes and you might already have high blood pressure. So it's very important that you know about any pre-existing condition and your doctor can also provide important advice before you start any health and fitness program.

Build Those Muscles

Your muscles burn calories when they work, when at rest, in fact all-day long. So do some resistance exercises to build your muscle mass.

Do Aerobic Exercises

Aerobic exercise help with increasing lean muscle mass while simultaneously decreasing excess body fat. Aerobic exercise will also make your body's metabolic process more efficient and this will last a long while.

Choose A Well Balanced Diet

Reduce your fat intake and increase foods high in vitamins, minerals and fiber, such as oats, rice, potatoes and cereals. The best still come from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micro nutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.

Avoid Fried Foods Especially Deep-Fried

Even though foods such as fish and chicken are generally leaner than beef, when it is deep fried it will, for the most part, contain more fat than when a steak is cooked on a barbecue. When you want chicken or fish, try to have it grilled instead.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

Drinking six to eight glasses of water every day keeps the body refreshed. Since weight loss depends on how the body eliminates body wastes, you should stay hydrated.

Set Realistic Goals

It's virtually impossible for you to lose 50 pounds in 2 weeks. Take it easy; if you have already lost 5 or 6 pounds, give yourself a break then try to lose the next 5 pounds. You'll reach your desired goal in time.

Have enough sleep, eat healthy nutritious meals, drink lots of water and exercise. This will give you the best chance of losing weight and improving your health.
