If you want to reduce weight, you should take fat free, vitamin and mineral rich diet rather than slimming pills. Various weight loss experts and dieticians have devised weight loss diets to help people to lose weight in a natural manner.

Weight loss diets optimize weight loss and offer an alternate healthy eating option for taking strenuous exercises. There are several weight loss diets, but the popular ten among them are:

1. Atkins Diet: Atkins Diet perhaps tops the list of ten popular low-carb diets. It emphasizes the need to avoid carbohydrates and saturated diets that influence the blood sugar level in the body. Atkins diet consists primarily of unprocessed foods.

2. South Beach Diet: It advises against consuming starches and fatty meats. It recommends the use of nutritive foods such as vegetables, eggs, cheese, nuts, beef, nuts, cereals and potatoes.

3. Nutrisystem, a pre-packed food, is sent directly to the clients from the company. It consists of low-glycemic carbohydrates, protein and fiber. Fruits and vegetables are also recommended. This diet plan includes apple-cinnamon oatmeal, cream of broccoli soup, beef tacos, whipped sweet potatoes with cheese.

4. The Sonoma Diet originated in Sonoma wine country. It combines Asian, Latin American and Mediterranean cuisine. It is a three phased power food consisting food items like feta cheese, almonds, tomatoes, grapes, spinach, bell peppers, blueberries, broccoli, grapes, olive oil, spinach, strawberries, tomatoes, whole grains and wine.

5. The Zone Diet: You can eat anything in this diet; therefore, it is not a diet in the traditional sense. You are encouraged to eat proteins and carbs in the ratio of 3:4 to maintain the hormonal balance.

6. Ornish Diet: It is a vegetarian diet. It emphasizes upon the importance of complex carbohydrates while abstaining from sugars, cholesterol and saturated diets. It recommends the intake of 10% fat, 20% protein and 70% carbohydrates.

7. Jenny Craig, a personal consultant, dietician and a motivator developed a diet aimed at reducing the weight of the consumers according to their individual needs. Clients can choose from the available menus which consist of cereal with skimmed milk, chicken fettuccine, pumpkin soup and so on. They can also create their own menu based upon Jenny Craig brand food.

8. Organic diet consists primarily of food items that are free from pesticides, preservatives, sweeteners and cruelty. This kind of diet includes unprocessed whole grains, fruits and vegetables, without trans-fats or artificial flavorings.

9. Macrobiotic Diet: It is a low fat, high fiber diet that aims at promoting both physical and spiritual well being of the consumers. It consists primarily of vegetarian foods such as whole grains, seasonal vegetables, brown rice, soy-bean products, beans, seeds, fish and nuts.
10. Raw Food: As the name suggests, it consists of uncooked foods. The underlying idea is that heating food over 106 degrees Fahrenheit kills the natural enzymes or nutrients.
