Teleradiology utilizes the Internet and various networks to enable physicians and radiologists to send and receive medical digital images and reports to one another. Even if your medical facility is a small one, or located in a small town, you can nevertheless benefit from using teleradiology to access the specialists you need for consultations, thus providing excellent patient care. Teleradiology is enabled by a RIS PACS system, which is the software system used to translate digital images and reports into DICOM images, and then enable those images to be sent over the World Wide Web.

A PACS radiology system is used in conjunction with a PACS web viewer to create a workstation that will enable you to store, view and distribute your medical images and reports in a digital environment.

A RIS PACS System Helps You Store Medical Images

HIPPA regulations require secure storage of patient digital images and reports. As well, those records must be kept secure for several years in an archive in order to comply with HIPPA, and there must be a disaster recovery plan in place as well. All of these issues can be handled quickly and easily with a PACS radiology system. By using PACS RIS software and the Internet, digital images and reports can be stored in a tiny fraction of the space needed for hardcopy files, and they can be backed up to CD or DVD or tape, and can also be backed up on an offsite server for quick access should a calamity strike.

View Medical Images On A PACS Web Viewer

The RIS PACS system also allows you to view and enhance images for better patient care. You can take a digital image and zoom in, change the brightness or contrast, along with several other features in order to give you the image you need for a clear diagnosis. A web viewer allows for high-end graphic images to be properly displayed, such as are used in medical digital imaging.

A RIS PACS System Makes Distribution Of Digital Medical Images Easy

PACS RIS software connects all the power of the Internet to your web viewer or workstation. You can set protocols using PACS RIS software so that authorized personnel only will have the ability to distribute medical images. By using a PACS radiology system, you can collaborate with whomever you choose no matter that other physician's locale anywhere in the world, making affordable better patient care within your reach.

The digital aspect of the images allows for immediate access anywhere at anytime. Combined with the RIS piece of the RIS PACS system, you also have the ability to send digital images of reports and test results along with the images, so that a complete care package is available to all physicians who are allowed to access the system.

In short, a PACS radiology system will bring your medical facility into the digital age.
