Why Your Fallen Arches Will Thank You for Wearing Esthetics!

A poll conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association revealed that a surprising 73% of people asked said that they are living with painful foot conditions. Why are more patients complaining of foot pain in the examination room? Most patients have issues with their feet because of: the types of shoes they wear, what activities they participate in, or how their feet are formed. Wearing poorly-fitting shoes can turn minor problems into major ones. Physically active people are another segment of the population that are highly-affected by painful foot conditions. Factors such as flat feet, over-pronation, and insufficient support can all be contributing factors to lower extremity pain. Mom and dad can also be the cause of foot-related problems, because genetics play a role how a person's feet are formed. This can increase the chance of developing painful foot conditions such as bunions, heel spurs, and plantar fasciits.
Foot Biomechanics: The Evils of Foot Overpronation and Over-supination
Flat feet can cause an inward rolling of the feet which can make activities painful. The foot handles stabilizing and balancing the body while bearing its weight. The parts of the foot that provide this balanced relationship with the body are the heel, arch, tarsals and metatarsals. The arch gives tremendous strength and flexibility so the foot remains stable. This delicate balance can be interrupted by high arches or fallen arches, which can cause the foot to rotate oddly. With high arches, the mass of the body is oddly emphasized on the far edge of the foot , a condition known as over-supination. However, over-pronation takes place with flat feet because the weight of the body is concentrated on the inside of the foot, forcing the feet to roll toward the inside .
Serious Foot Issues Occur with Foot Overpronation
A quick way to see if flat feet or high arches are a problem is to go to a place where a foot print can be made, such as on cement. Immerse on foot in cool water and then step onto a dry surface. Then, remove the foot off the ground and see the impression that remains. A flat foot with feet overpronation will leave a full foot imprint where all of the skin of the foot has made contact with the ground. A high arch will leave just a portion of the ball of the foot's, outside portion, and the heel. Either of these arch dysfunctions can contribute to spurs of bone in the heel or plantar fasciitis treatment because the foot takes constant pressure in places it is not intended to handle.
Get Relief for Treatment For Plantar Fascitis With Orthotic Insoles
People suffering from flat feet, heel spurs, or who need plantar fascitis treatment can find relief by using orthotics in their shoes. They give the needed support to stabilize the areas in the arch that have been weakened. They also give cushioning in areas where constant pressure in the ball of the foot and heel. Orthotics are available in many sizes and types and are made to meet the needs of athletes, high-heel wearers, and everyone in between.
