For Women-How To Choose A CostumeSubmitted by gmsarticles Thu, 8 Nov 2007
Picking the Best Costume For Women
Halloween for a lot of grown ups had a tendency to be more of a costume hunting challenge than a holiday full of imagination and candy. However, if you can get passed this seemingly minor hurdle you are going to at least be well on your way to acting like you're having a carefree, cheerful evening. For the most part, ladies are going to have a more difficult time nailing down the right costume. For once, however, it could be for good reason--there are hundreds, if not thousands of choices available for ladies of all personalities, shapes, and sizes. That being said, a majority of adult ladies costume options fall into two basic categories--sexy costumes and everything else. I for one, have noticed that the sexy category has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years, the plus side of this being that the costume selections are becoming more diverse. It's no longer only a choice between sexy French maid or sexy female police officer (though these are still fabulous choices). The sexy costume genre has spread out to include pop culture. Largely because of television shows like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', ladies can now have a more specific irresistible and powerful figure in mind for Halloween night. After all, it's, the only night of the year when a customarily very demure and professional woman can cut loose a little bit in public. On the other end of things; in the not necessarily sexy department, there is also a collection of choices. Television and movies still can be your inspiration. Classics like 'I Love Lucy' and 'I Dream of Jeanie' offer you fantastic female characters. Costumes from a specific period are also an excellent choice. A decorative Renaissance era costume or even something inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress can be great fun.The 1950s is another great time period. Think ponytails, poodle skirts and saddle shoes. Above all, try matching your own individuality to your costume. Nothing finishes an outfit better than your own playacting. There are obviously the familiar Halloween costumes like a ghost, a cat, a witch, etc. These are probably your front-runner for the traditional Halloween partier. Just about any costume can be adjusted to have a sexier look or you can play it down so to speak, and maintain your modesty. Plus size costumes are out there in nearly every style now. It is important to choose a halloween costume you are comfortable and relaxed in, both mentally and physically. It can be challenging to achieve your look if you do not feel good in your halloween costume. Once you have selected your halloween costume, don't forget to accessorize with feather duster, make-up, a handbag, wig, jewelry -- anything that's is appropriate for your costume. A great wig can have a serious impact on a woman's costume. With all your finishing touches in place, get going to your celebration ready to dazzle other guests. Have some fun this Halloween and live out a couple of fantasies. That's what the holiday is really about. About the Author
