Some bedrooms need to have a have a lot of space to put up a lot of furniture apart from the bed. Kids or teenager's room are usually such rooms which need a lot of furniture apart from the bed for their daily activities such as homework, project and hobbies. Some ideas that can help maximize space and help in effective storage are discussed below:

The bed can have a lot of boxes, drawers or cupboards underneath. The cupboards do not have to have doors, which need space to swing open. Instead, they can just be cubby holes for storing books, clothes and shoes.

The headboard of your bed can double as a shelf which can hold books, tissues, lights and anything else imperative for bedtime.

Bunk beds are a wise investment for saving space in your bedroom. The bunks can either be used as a bed or to store toys or other equipments. Apart from acting as extra beds for guests, this bed can also act as a canopy bed for children with the addition of some curtain rods.

There are also beds that fold up against the wall. You can build storage shelves on the wall above the folded-up bed and hang a blind or curtain which, when extended, will hide the entire wall. The bed can be unfolded when needed and put away during the day without eating up much of your space.

Storage of clothes is one of the greatest issues in a confined space. If you have an attic or other place to stash away a couple of old suitcases, you can use them for seasonal storage for storing away winter clothes in summer and summer for winter.

Furthermore, you can do away with your wardrobe door which opens out as it shrinks the room visually. Alternatively, remove doors which swing open conventionally and use sliding panels, folding doors or a curtain that hangs flat when closed.

Futons are also an intelligent piece of furniture which can be laid out like a bed or folded up like a couch. Either way, these are very good beds to use for a small space.

Minimalist rooms are very trendy and very fashionable these days. And efficient storage is the key to this. If you choose furniture that can be used for multiple purposes or can be stored without taking up a huge space, you can end up with a spacious and well furnished home.
