Cotbeds Buying Guide

Submitted by John Lewis
Mon, 14 Jun 2010

As a new parent, one of the most essential items you have to shop for your baby is a cot bed. All newly born babies sleep for most of the hours throughout the day. So you have to make sure that the cotbed you buy is a comfortable and cosy place for your baby to be tucked in.

Another important point you should bear in mind while buying a cotbed is that it should match the requirements of the parents to a certain extent. As an example, if you have a big house and you want to move the cot around the house, from a kitchen while cooking to the living room while watching TV, you should buy a cot with casters attached to it. Casters would enable you to move the cot along very easily without having to lift a heavy piece of furniture.

Moreover, some parents prefer to have the babycot close to their bed so that they can keep an eye on the baby while asleep. This feature is also quite useful if the baby or the parents falls sick. It enables the parents to look after the baby without having to leave the bed.

As a babycot is an expensive item, you expect it to last for a long time so that you do not need to buy a new cot for every growing stage of your baby. That is why; you should look for buying a cot with adjustable height. It is important to maintain the appropriate height of the cot, so that the baby does not fall out of the cotbed.

If you travel frequently and plan to carry your baby along with you, then you should consider buying a travel cot. In that case, you do not need to book a babycot at every hotel you check in to. A travel cot also serves as an essential item if you intend to keep the baby with his or her grandparents or with one of your friends for a short period of time. As you would not be able to carry a standard cot to someone else's house easily, a travel cot would definitely prove handy.

John Lewis offers a range of items for your baby, including; car seats , pushchair, travel cots and many more. John Lewis is one of the leading retailers in the UK. Customers can visit the John Lewis website for further details on baby products.
