You don\'t have to have a degree in design to make your home look fabulous. Pick up a magazine or learn a bit about design from TV programs, and you\'ll be armed with the information to decorate your home in your own style.

Before going ahead with buying, think about yourself and your own preferences. You\'ll want to choose major furnishing pieces and colors that you enjoy and that reflect your style. Once you have your main pieces, you can go from there to accent those pieces. Spend some time sitting and drawing out your ideal room or ideal furniture as a brainstorm exercise, then keep your ideas in mind when you shop.

In each room, there should be one major piece, a focal point that people are attracted to. A large crystal or wrought iron chandelier, for example, would work as the major piece in an entryway. If placed correctly, the chandelier will be the centerpiece of the space and draw the attention of the viewer. Homeowners and visitors will admire this central fixture.

Lighting can also set the atmosphere for a room. Kitchens should be well lit, with bright lights working best for workspaces. Light dimming switches are a great option for bathrooms and master bedrooms, where lighting should be more intimate. For living and entertainment rooms, the mood can vary. Chandeliers that have a dimming option are a good choice, so that you can change the lighting with the mood.

You know your own tastes – the colors, textures, shapes and styles that draw your eye, make you feel comfortable and happy, and express your personality. Stick with your instincts on the major pieces, and build from there. You\'ll be amazed at how you\'ve transformed into your own interior designer.

It is not hard to transform your home from a mundane domicile to a truly stunning exhibit of interior decorating prowess. One easy way to instantly improve your interior is to install an elegant crystal chandelier or a wrought-iron chandelier.
