Garden Offices & Creating a More Spacious Home

Submitted by Chriss Tyrrell

So much has been said and written in recent years about garden offices in all their variations and it's all due to the rising popularity of this new trend in living and working. However; one area that is all too rarely covered is the effect that a garden office has on the actual home itself once that the office has been removed out of it.

Is Your Home Office a Necessity Or a Choice?

Indeed, now you know that nothing bad can ever come from relocating an office from a home to a garden setting. This is because in too many cases, people with offices in their homes can lose track of the fact that for the most part, locating an office in one's home is done as a matter of necessity, rather than as a matter of choice.

Is it Normal for a Home to Be Used as a Work Space?

The problem, all too often seems to be that in the time the occupants of a home can simply become familiar with having an office located in their midst and hence come to accept it as a "norm". That it's normal to have the home be used as a work area and also to have less available living and entertaining space to relax in and enjoy.

An Office Move That Is Very Rarely Done In Reverse

The fact is however, that only in extremely rare instances is the office moved back into a home, once it's been relocated to a garden setting. On the other hand the exact opposite is true when the process is done in reverse. That is an office moved from a comfortable garden into the confines of a home.

A Far More Cost Effective Option per Square Foot

Still one more factor to take into consideration is cost. After all an office is part of a business and a business is for generating money. The fact is that the actual cost per square foot of office space located inside a home far exceeds the cost per square foot of a garden office located in a disconnected out building. It's simply the most cost effective option.

The "In"-Home Office Tax Credit Is Difficult To Qualify For

One more benefit of the garden office versus the in-home office is the home office tax deduction. Far too many people have the misconception that it's easy to claim a home office as a tax deduction, even in spite of the fact that it is in fact a legitimate home office. The fact of the matter is that qualifying is easier said than done, particularly if the home office is located "inside" the actual residence. An unattached home office is an easy and viable solution.

Making Your Time Spent Working Much Less of a "Job"

In the end though, there are the benefits that garden office offers that rise above financial pragmatics. The real reason why very few "sane" career people move their working space back into a home once they have experienced working in a garden setting. That is that if you really want it to be, your time spent working can be that much less of a "job" if you're doing it in pleasant surroundings.

Green Studios manufacture and install a range of garden offices made from sustainable materials. The range is ideal for use as a home office or music studio. Visit the website for more details.
