Like any other process, cleaning granite must be effectively implemented for its purpose to be well fulfilled. However, there would always be something that will hinder its being at full effect. Knowing that, preparation must be made in order to get over those hindrances.

Basically, a lot is involved to clean granite. And so a lot also can be the source of its failure. It can either be the implementation of the steps, the choice of granite cleaner or the type or condition of the equipments used. Yes, there may be different sources. Nevertheless, it is the mistakes that can be committed to all of those that are the specific causes of cleaning failure.

Know the damage to treat or fix - Damages to granite are in different forms and are of varying level of extremities. To know what is in your granite surface will enable you to determine the best move to take and what granite cleaner to use. Examples of the damages that you may need to treat are discoloration, scratches, markings, stains and spills. If what you have to clean is a stain, also know what type it is as different stains require different solutions.

Research – This is especially recommended if you intend to clean granite yourself and have limited knowledge to the process. Before you start it off, be sure that you know what to do and that you fully understand the steps that you have to carry out.

Get the most appropriate granite cleaner – There are granite cleaners that are specially made for specific damages. Pick the solution that is specifically for what you have to treat. Also, avoid settling for a general cleaner as it may damage the surface instead of cleaning it. Vinegar is one of those general cleaner and one that you should really avoid using in a granite surface as its acidity can be harmful to it.

Collect all the equipments needed – Assembling every bit of what you need to clean granite will speed up the process making you save time. By doing it, you don\'t have to go back and forth looking and fetching the equipment that you need.

Before starting the cleaning granite process, preparation must be made. It helps in avoiding mistakes that can be too damaging to surface. In a way, it prepares you to clean granite effectively.
