Fancy Desserts for Every OccasionSubmitted by neillisa Fri, 3 Jul 2009
No meal is complete without a good dessert, and that\'s especially true with parties. Although few people will admit it, everyone looks forward to the dessert at the end of the meal. But if you\'re on the serving end, it\'s hard to come up with new dessert ideas every time. How do you find the perfect finisher for your meal without resorting to overused recipes?
Well, it doesn\'t have to be that complicated. After all, we all have the occasional sweet tooth and it\'s just a matter of knowing what your guests want. If you\'re really strapped for time, you can just serve some plain ice cream and top it with a variety of add-ons, such as fruit, nuts, chocolate, or candy sprinkles. If you\'re not sure, just lay them all out on the table and let everyone make their own desserts. Pies and pastries also make great desserts, especially for Christmas and Thanksgiving. What\'s great about them is that you have free reign over the filling, which means you can make it low-fat, low-sugar, or other simple alterations. There are ready-made pie crusts you can get if you\'re in a hurry, or you can try one of those "instant" crusts that only need refrigeration. Another thing that always works is cupcakes. They\'re a lot easier and cheaper to make than cakes, but they pack just as much flavor. These days, people are also rediscovering cupcake decoration and creating personalized cupcakes that really suit the occasion. You don\'t even have to bake them yourself-just grab some ready-made cupcakes, spread on some frosting and add a few toppers. The results are often so impressive your guests can\'t even tell they\'re store-bought! Of course, it won\'t hurt to add some creative presentation to your desserts. Although they taste great any way they\'re served, a bit of work can make them more appetizing. Serve them alongside freshly cut fruits, or put them on a stylish platter. If you\'re having a buffet, try arranging pastries on a cake board or bowl to make a nice centerpiece. Be as creative as you want-your guests are sure to appreciate it!
Dessert is no doubt the best part of every meal, but for party hosts, it\'s often the hardest to plan. That doesn\'t have to be the case, of course. Here are some cool dessert ideas you can try for your next party.
