How to Keep your Flower Bouquets Fresh

Submitted by flowers to go
Tue, 5 Aug 2008

Along with many things in life, flower bouquets has a shelf life, if it went unnoticed and ignored for a couple of days, it will surely lose all its beauty and shimmer. That's why it is necessary that as soon as you receive a bouquet of flowers, dutiful care should be applied and taken into practice.

Make it a clean vase

Before putting your bouquet of flowers anywhere, make sure that your chosen piece of vase is clean. It is very much preferable if you put them in a glass vase, as the chemicals of your natural flower preservatives would work better with their material, as opposed with ceramic vases.

Also make sure to put it in warm water, as this would be taken faster by the plant's stem.

Keep them fresh with natural preservatives

If you happen to forget where you put the flower preservatives straight from your local florist, it is very easy to produce your own natural flower preservatives. Look around your house and try and find these three things: bleach, soda and water.

A mixture of these three will keep your flowers fresh and beautiful for days to come.

Store it in a perfect place

To make sure that the flower leaves and petals doesn't dry out too fast, try to store your flowers in a nice and warm place. Make sure that it's far away from direct sunlight, or any living produce, as to avoid a quicker decomposition.

Maintain them well

As each day passes,of course there will be bits and pieces falling off, or going off with your bouquet of flowers. Try to see and check if there are falling or dried leaves, or you may try and cut the stem of the flowers as the days pass.

The lesser the exposure to wilting and drying parts of the flowers, the better the chances of it staying fresher throughout the week.
