Time-Saving Tips for Holiday PartiesSubmitted by neillisa Wed, 14 Oct 2009
Holiday season is just around the corner, and for most people, it means a slew of parties, gatherings, and celebrations. It also means-at least for some of us-that it\'s time to bring out the recipe books and dig around for party food. When you\'ve been hosting the party every year, it can be hard to find new recipes every time. How do you keep up the variety without slaving for hours in the kitchen? It\'s actually pretty easy-all you need is a bit of creativity.
Planning is of course the first step to a successful meal, party or no party. At least two weeks before the big day, have your menu ready and figure out how to make time for each dish. If there\'s something you can make in advance, go ahead and do it whenever you have time. If you can get even one dish done beforehand, it saves you a good hour or two in the kitchen. If you\'re feeling bold, consider making a new recipe-one you haven\'t done or served before. Traditional meals may be classic for a reason, but nothing\'s stopping you from experimenting. Your guests are sure to appreciate your effort to spice things up a bit, and it\'s a great way to make your party stand out. Look online or browse recipe books for dishes you can try out. You can make a dry run the day before to avoid last-minute mistakes. You don\'t even have to try a new recipe altogether. You can start by looking at your old recipes and thinking of ways to change them up. You can use a different sauce, change one or two key ingredients, or throw in a new flavor you discovered this year. That way, you don\'t do anything too drastic, but there\'s still a noticeable change that your guests are sure to notice. Even a little change can make a big difference. If you\'re really strapped for time, try using your slow cooker. Slow cookers are actually excellent time-savers in the kitchen-since they do all the work for you, you get more time to prepare other dishes or take care of other party details. You can use it for your main dish, side dish, appetizer or even dessert-and the results are often quite impressive!
Party season is coming up, and like most people, you\'re probably scrambling for unique party ideas. This article offers some ways to spice up this year\'s holiday bash without wasting your time. Find more information about slow cooker party food.
