Camping Tents - The Different Aspects To ConsiderSubmitted by michaelrussell56 Sun, 29 Aug 2010
Camping tents are excellent devices. They provide shelter that can be easily put away for travel and then put together for a sometimes very expansive place to sleep, eat and relax. Whether you purchase a cheap one or an expensive one, they do the job. On the other hand, how well they do that job can sometimes determine exactly how well your holiday goes. Not being able to get a good night's sleep because of the heat, insects or because it breaks can mar the entire trip. Therefore, it's important to take your time when choosing one and make sure all the materials and parts are up to standard.
What Makes A Good Tent? Any long-lasting tent should comprise of fiberglass poles in order to preserve its strength and shape. Some other materials are prone to either snapping or bending, which would be a large problem should you be camping at the time. Furthermore, there are several other features you might want for a comfortable night. Being clammy, hot and stuffy will only ruin your sleep and lead to being miserable during the day. To avoid this, a good tent should come complete with ventilation 'windows'. These are panels of mesh material that's impossible to see through and will prevent insects from crawling in. So not only will you be provided with a comfortably warm shelter, but you can be sure nothing will be crawling around inside your tent during the night. Vestibules allow for a little more space as you can separate your sleeping area from your sitting or cooking area. You can also use this vestibule to store your equipment so you have more sleeping room. Though be sure that it's a closing one, otherwise you will be leaving your gear open for anyone to take. For larger tents, consider an awning to allow you to relax outside. Foldout chairs and a small table can be located underneath an awning, where the sunlight and rain can't reach. This gives you ample eating room as well as allowing you to admire the scenery or watch the children from comfort. Furthermore, some awnings double up as the tent door, allowing for more efficiency in space. The materials these things are made from should be of the upper-tier quality. This means high-tenacity mesh, heavy-duty waterproofing, shock-corded fiberglass poles and UV layers throughout. All of these will ensure a comfortable shelter as well as a long-lasting camping tent.
