Innovational Barbie Doll Pieces: Modeling SuggestionsSubmitted by wentforthw Thu, 21 May 2009
Putting contrast in your layout
The definition of a contrast is two distinct or different items that draw attention to one another. In this fashion you can generate movement of the eye from one area to another, or concentrate the focus of a room on one particular aspect. If you are planning to use color as your primary medium for contrast then refer to a color wheel - the colors opposite from one another will bring the most contrast. Using contrast in a room, is like using salt with food, you use to much and you get overwhelmed quickly. In order to prevent yourself from creating a mess, focus on setting up one contrasting element in the room and no more. Lights and Miniatures: The Awe Factor If you have completed a kit, furnished it, and are looking for another adventure then try lighting. Adding Lights removes your miniature set from being just another toy to a display item that will sit no longer in the toy box, but on the living room mantel. Lighting your kit can be a fun yet challenging time. In all reality, would we enjoy it if it wasn't a challenge?First of all the basics are simply hooking up lighting from a plug to a light. In addition to that you are given instructions and help in setting it up. Don't expect to do it perfect the first time, try it out, make a mistake and learn from it. The best way to start is small, so get a small kit and begin. Remember whether you think you can or whether you think you can't you are right. Adding a Mood The mood of the room should be a designers motivation and no other, it is the mood that dictates color and furniture, and not the other way around. A mood is the purpose of the room, the reason that it exists. One example of a mood is the dining room should be a place of meeting, where people can relax and talk to one another. One more example would be the bedroom, the most personal quarters, and is designed for only one person. Those dollhouses that are awe inspiring tap into the settings and mood of each room to design it. Visualize what mood you would like to portray in your rooms, for what purposes would they have that room and what particular mood would they set. When you tap into the mood you will know it, and the design of the room will just fall in place as if it was meant to be there all along. Rearranging Furniture? Try Some New Strategies Because a doll's furniture is very light you can easily found the perfect arrangement in a matter of seconds. A placement strategy is simply a way of trying things differently to give you the arrangement you want. As there are so many different ways to layout furniture let us talk about arranging by symmetrical shapes. In order to use the triangle design you will need three major pieces of furniture for the room, imagine that they form a triangle and place them accordingly. The next example is that of the square, take four pieces of furniture and arrange them so that they make a square in the room. If you have an extra small piece of furniture you can have a five piece square by placing it in the middle. The square and triangle layouts are the most common, but do try many other shapes like an ellipsis, octagon, or even a bell curve.
