Matchless Tiny Dollhouse Furniture: Layout ConceptsSubmitted by wentforthw Tue, 19 May 2009
Floor Trim for your Dollhouse
As you are building and tweaking your dollhouse you will discover some great time saving secrets. There are some great things that you can add to your house, and I just simply came across one that helped out a lot. This big discovery was floor trim. The discovery is not entirely new, or my own, there are many places to get doll trim, but I found the cheapest is a very thin flat balsa wood. Simply paint it the color of your dollhouse and attach it to the foot of your walls. What I found is that they covered up the tiny bumps between the walls and the flooring. Another great thing about the trim is that it covers the edges of the wallpaper and prevents fraying. I realize that this little invention, though not my own, really made my flooring look flush and neat against the wall. Placing your Furniture in a Way That Works Because a doll's furniture is very light you can easily found the perfect arrangement in a matter of seconds. There are many options in furniture layout that you might not have thought of. As there are so many different ways to layout furniture let us talk about arranging by symmetrical shapes. In first simple strategy, the triangle, imagine a large triangle in the middle of the room and then take the three primary pieces of furniture and place them at the corners of that triangle. The square design is used with either three or four types of big pieces of furniture, with four pieces the furniture is places in the corner of an imaginary square. The five pieces square is the same but one piece, usually the most prominent is placed in the middle. Though these are the most used you can have any types, shapes, and patterns that form a symmetrical or aesthetically pleasing layout. Dollhouse and the Appropriate Mood The mood of the room should be a designers motivation and no other, it is the mood that dictates color and furniture, and not the other way around. A mood is the purpose of the room, the reason that it exists. One example of a mood is the dining room should be a place of meeting, where people can relax and talk to one another. One more example would be the bedroom, the most personal quarters, and is designed for only one person. Those dollhouses that are awe inspiring tap into the settings and mood of each room to design it. To help you get in the mood setting, picture the room and the feelings that emanate from that room, then design colors, furniture, and styles to match that setting. The more you can portray the appropriate move, the more you will convince your friends and family your great skills as a miniaturist. Accessories: The Little Touches This hobby is about the little details. From living room lamps to kitchen coffee mugs, these are the small details found in the accessories category. Using them for your interior design can really spruce up your house. But not only will it add that creative touch, it makes it look more realistic. So express yourself and personality in the type of china, miniature animals, portraits and more!
