Matching Colors: A Science that is Well Developed to Help
Interior design, for your own personal home, or for your dollhouse kit can be a matter of color choices. Everyone that has gone to high school art or taken any basic art school knows a little bit about the color wheel. The basis of the wheel is that some colors are similar to one another, and others have contrast. Opposite colors on the wheel are those with absolute contrast and stability. When starting your designing pick up a color wheel for your color selections, a little knowledge about color coordination will go a long way to help your design and flow capabilities. The secret touch of a great Dollhouse: Lights If you have completed a kit, furnished it, and are looking for another adventure then try lighting. When you add lights to it you are dedicating a bit of time and energy, you are also stating that it will not be used for toddlers, but receives more of a collectible status. Lighting your kit can be a fun yet challenging time. At the same time, isn't the challenge why we are in this hobby? When you break it down, lighting is simply connecting electricity through a wire and a plug. In fact with the instructions at hand you will be surprised at how easy it is. Don't expect to do it perfect the first time, try it out, make a mistake and learn from it. The best way to start is small, so get a small kit and begin. Remember it is only hard or challenging if you make it out to be. Putting contrast in your layout Contrast is the idea of putting to opposing colors or ideas next to each other. Contrast in interior design makes the eye roll over certain areas of the room and focus on a couple of segments or patterns. Contrasting colors are identified on a simple color wheel: They are the colors that are opposite each other. And remember, one can put too much contrast in a room very easily. A good rule of thumb is if you are going to be using contrast to have one major contrasting item per room. Using Size to your Benefit for Design Always, always remember that there are different sizing elements in miniatures. Here are the sizing elements, there are three: Miniature scales, size of room dimensions, and comparative size. The first is the miniature scale, and you could really lose some money buying the wrong size. Meaning, look up the miniature size of your dollhouse kit, if it is one inch scale then you need to buy one inch furnitureSize element is the second point, and this is as simple as making sure that your furniture will actually fit in the room. Take out a ruler and measure the square inches of the room and compare it to your incoming furniture dimensions. The last point is relative size; this means that within a room you can coordinate the pieces. Larger pieces will have more of a prominence so if you really want to make your china cabinet pop you shouldn't make the dining room table so elaborate.
