KICK UP YOUR CREATIVITY
Get Inspired through the beautiful springtime in Texas.
Do you sometimes feel at loss for ideas to paint - something to get your creative juices flowing? Now is springtime in Texas and we have so many beautiful wild flowers in this area. Especially are the blue bonnets in full bloom around here. They leave the meadows with a haze of blue.

Also notice how the Texas landscape begins to change from dull and dead to that vibrant
spring green in Spring, which speaks of new life and new beginnings.
It is an exciting time when all colors of nature burst out with daffodils and tulips. Even the buttercups, bluebells, poppies and forget-me-nots are raising their heads and shouting "Get off the stage dandelions- It is my time to perform and shine". All these colors inspire me to make use of a large prepared canvas, a brush and a pallet knife to design and paint colors that bring a happy mood.

It's the time to take long walks and appreciate every little form and shape. Yes. always take along your sketching pad so when you return to your studio you will remember the details to paint.

LOOK TO THE PAST
It is a time for you to reflect back to previous years and maybe even dig up old photos to paint that have been forgotten. How about visiting a nursery and capture some great photos of those awesome Iris' in bloom or daffodils in springtime. At this time of the year one can see the tulips blooming everywhere. Why not plant some of these spring flowers in your yard so you can gather them and include them in one of your still life paintings as I love to do. I especially love to visit Tyler, Texas and take their azalea walks in March or April. It's a great time to smell the beauty of spring and enjoy the crowds of people who love color and beauty too.

DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA
Why not take your camera and photograph the birds. In Texas at this time of the year, they are busy building nest now and there are many with lots of color in their "spring suits". I had a red robin land on my kitchen window seal the other day. It was almost like he was beckoning me to come outside
and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
I never fail to take my camera when I take long country walks. There is
always some beauty that you can photograph and use to inspire a painting on your canvas.

Another good idea is to visit a country farm where the newborn
animals are frisky and full of life. Be sure to take your children along so they can enjoy petting the animals as you get great photos. Not only will you have ideas to paint but build wonderful memories as well.

Whatever your mood and excitement may be at springtime, always allow your art to mirror what you are feeling and seeing. If you do that you will never run out of
something to paint. Dont forget to paint something in your painting that will let people know it's "Texas in Springtime".
