Support Breast Cancer with Pink Binoculars

Submitted by drobbo

As you are no doubt aware, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. People are involved in all kinds of activities to raise awareness of this horrible disease. Many others get involved with money-raising activities such as walks, runs, or other organized events. But did you know you could support breast cancer awareness just by buying a pair of binoculars?

A lot of companies sometimes change their product packaging to support certain diseases or causes. They might just make it a certain color, or put a special graphic on it. When people buy those products, the company then donates a portion of the profits to that cause. This method of charity support is good for everyone involved.

Obviously, the charity gets a donation, so that's a positive thing for them. The company looks good for helping a charity, and possibly gains new customers from it. And the people who buy the products can help support a charity without spending any more money than they would have anyway. It's a win-win-win.

Usually, you see this done with everyday, common products you might find in the grocery store. But every once in a while, a company will take part with an uncommon product. That's what Alpen did. Alpen binoculars have only been around since 1997, but they've built a good reputation. When a family member of an Alpen employee, and then an Alpen employee herself were struck with breast cancer, the company decided to show its support with products.

They came out with two models of binoculars, both pink. Every time one of those pink binoculars is sold, a portion of the proceeds goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. They're still regular binoculars inside, and they work just as well as any other model. The only difference is that they're pink on the outside.

These binoculars would make a great gift for any woman, or anyone who wants to show their support for breast cancer awareness. If pink's not your color, the company makes plenty of regular binoculars, too.
