When choosing to build a deck, there are many different plans that can be chosen from. There are plans that are great for a pool or hot tub that will be integrated into the deck. There are plans that are for a low, patio style of a deck which is more decorative, and there are plans for a covered deck, which allows individuals to enjoy it even when there is adverse weather outside. It is important to take time to consider the different features that individuals want in their decks so that the deck can be thoroughly enjoyed for years to come. Often, a big mistake that individuals make when choosing a deck plan is to choose one that is too small to meet their needs. One way to prevent this is to measure off the size of the deck using stakes and then placing the furniture within the perimeter to see if everything fits comfortably on the deck.

Protection

Covered deck plans are popular because they give some versatility to the deck. Often, there is a covered portion of the deck and an uncovered portion so that there are two different areas where a person can sit. These covered deck plans will also often include deck bench plans so that there is a built in seating area in some parts of the deck. This is especially true when there is a gazebo style part of the deck since it is nice to have bench seating around the perimeter of the gazebo.

The covered deck plans can include a completely enclosed deck, such as a screened in porch or a Florida room. The covered deck plans for a screened in porch allow the screens to be placed around the sides of the deck to prevent insects from bothering the individuals when they are trying to use it, especially in the evenings when mosquitoes can be a problem. The Florida room style of covered deck plans is also nice because it has windows and screens that can be used, thus allowing it to act as another room in the winter, being heated, but also be totally open like a screened in porch during good weather.

There are also open styles of covered deck plans where there is a roof overhead, but the walls are open to the weather and are not screened in. This provides protection from the rain and the sun, but allows individuals to be outside and feel the cool breezes, eating and talking to their heart's content.
