Affordable Home Automation Products?Submitted by F. Cheshire Tue, 12 Jun 2007
At first glance the words "cost effective" and "home automation" do not seem to belong in the same conversation. The reason I say this is not unusual that home automation costs can reach up to a hundred thousand dollars or more. So you are going to be happy to hear what I am about to say.
In a moment you will see why. It is wise that you do your home work into the various home automation equipment lines available before choosing one to invest in. Some of the frugal home automation systems rely on technology that seems to work sometimes than not all. Some of themore expensive higher end products have such outrageous programming costs that go with them that could reach up to $50k, and thats only for the programming. (Then you need to add in the design fees, home automation equipment purchase, & installation fees.) Now you can see why to choose an affordable home automation set up that will give you the flexability to start off with a basic controller and then allow you to build on it a little at a time. We have to start somewhere, so why not with a remote control for your home theater system. Instead of Putting all of your money in one of those smart universal remote controls-- For just for just a few bucks more you could buy a home automation control device, that not only talks with your Plasma, 5.1 surround sound Receiver, & Satellite Receiver it can look at your DVD & search the web for the jacket cover art & show it on your plasma screen. Now instead of fumbling with 28 remote controls you now have one home automation remote that can effortlessly integrate all of you home theater equipment with a mere push of a button. But what if you had only bought one of those faancy smart remotes-- you would be stuck with playing surround sound equipment only. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about that when you get a true home automation controller. Your home theater controller will allow you to growexpand your home automation system whenever you are ready. Down the road when you can afford to put a little more on your home automation set up then you can add something such as 4" wi-fi or Ethernet touch screens & keypads.| The best thing though is that you can actually add features like integrating your security alarm, thermostats, distributed audio, and even control your lights, a little at a time as you can afford it. One home automation device can now automate all of these devices and cause a series of prescheduled events to occur with a click of a button. For example, when you wake up in the morning instead of an alarm clock waking you... you get up to the sound of soothing music, the heat warms up the room because the floor will be ice cold to walk on, your electric shades open to allow the sun to shine & your TV comes on with the morning news! Let that sink in for a minute, an affordable home automation system that you can add home automation control modules to as you can afford them. This way your system can grow with you as you can afford to do it instead of having to settle for less features in a system or having to put off having your home automation system all together.
