Contemporary D

You\'ve probably seen pictures of contemporary homes: large, open spaces with lots of floor space and simple yet striking colors. But have you ever thought of using the same look for your home? It\'s a lot easier than you think. After all, contemporary décor is all about getting more for less and finding the perfect balance between style and function. Whatever your budget is, there\'s always a way to give your home a nice modern touch.

High-contrast colors

A bold color scheme is one of the most recognizable features of modern home design. Contemporary designers tend to go for black and white, only adding a splash of color here and there to break the monotony. Often, these colors are bright and striking: ruby red, shocking pink, electric blue. This helps play up the color contrast and allows them to keep the rest of the room relatively bare, without making it look bland and boring.

Natural materials

The contrast between natural and synthetic materials also takes center stage in contemporary homes. Most people associate modern design with straight lines and sharp edges, glass tabletops and metallic wall art. Natural elements like wood and stone help soften the look and keep the room in balance. Try putting contrasting materials together, such as metal handles on wooden cabinets or an indoor plant against glass window panes.

Modern flooring

Hardwood and marble floors are still very much in style, but they\'re certainly not your only options. Modern materials such as glass, laminate, and even leather have entered the market, and each of them have something unique to offer. Not all of them will last as long as a solid wood floor, but they do last several years with proper maintenance. Choose a material that suits your lifestyle and goes well with your current décor.

Open space

Finally, keep the room as simple as possible-no clutter, fancy accessories, or pieces that take up too much space. This way, any accessories you do add will get the attention they deserve. The key is to leave the floor bare so that the room looks bigger than it actually is. You\'ll want to keep the windows clear so that natural light can stream in. Or if you have a nice view, you can arrange the room so that the window becomes the focal point.
