Dressing Up Your Closet

Submitted by Ellen Hamm
Mon, 2 May 2011

Is your closet a drab, boring, or even frustrating place to visit? Most people tend to neglect the closet for quite a while before they take the initiative and clean it up. Some people dread it so much that they put it off until the job seems like an insurmountable task. Making your closet look nice is a great way to not only protect and organize your clothes, but also to help motivate you to keep it neat and clean throughout the year. We've assembled some tips for you to dress up your closet and help you to keep it organized, avoiding the dreaded, "I wish I didn't wait so long to do this" feeling.

Get rid of the clutter and get your best wardrobe organized. Getting rid of things is hard for most, and can even be an emotional time for some people. Our clothes, shoes, mementos, and other items hold sentimental value, reminding us of times past. This attachment can grow stronger as we age and turn our closets into a storage area instead of a workable space for managing our clothing.

Think about that and instead of concentrating on what you'll miss, think about how you are turning your closet into a perfect, workable space for your laundry. Move your sentimental items to another storage area, away from where you'll keep the things that you use every day. Think of your closet as a space in constant motion instead of a static, motionless storage area. Things are constantly going in and coming out, so treating the closet like an organized intersection will help you to keep it straight.

The better your closet looks when it's straight, the more you'll enjoy keeping up the good work. Dressing up your closet with high quality hangers, such as sturdy metal hangers that save space, or fancy wooden hangers, like cedar hangers, will make your clothing hang nicely and encourage you to keep it organized.

There are many benefits to upgrading your clothes hangers. One is that they are designed with certain functions in mind. Professionals have run hundreds if not thousands of tests to design these hangers to hold your clothing perfectly in position, without damaging, crowding, or wrinkling your wardrobe. Take advantage of the expertise and upgrade your closet with high quality hangers and other closet accessories. Keep track of how many shirts, pants, skirts, or other items make their way into your closet by keeping only a set number of hangers per season in your closet.
