Garden Bridges Going Up in Popularity

Submitted by cedarstore

Over the past several years, there has been a trend in this country, wherein millions of people have been leaving their homes to live in the great outdoors. Tired of the confinement that they feel in their houses, they are making the break, and choosing to rough it – sort of. You see, using good old American ingenuity, they’ve found a way to bridge the gap between the hinterlands, and the safety of home and hearth. After spending the day in the wilderness, they simply retreat to the security of the old homestead, and sleep snugly in their own beds.
It’s called outdoor living, a phrase that’s been around for quite awhile, but which has a much different meaning than it had just decades ago. While, back then, it meant merely spending some time sitting out on the porch, or having a cookout on the patio once in awhile, today, for as much of the year as they can get away with, people are virtually living outdoors.
It’s difficult to pinpoint one particular reason for this movement. Perhaps because of the new level of stress that the 21st century has ushered in, people are seeking solace in their own backyards, turning them into veritable outdoor rooms, and furnishing them as comfortably and lavishly as any room in their homes. Comfort is paramount in this equation; and, since there aren’t many things in this world that have as comforting an effect as the sound of a babbling brook, water has become one of the dominant elements in many of these backyard sanctuaries.
No longer solely the province of those lucky enough to have natural sources of water on their properties, today, millions of water gardens, ponds, reflecting pools, fountains, and waterfalls, are being installed by homeowners. With the prevalence of water rising, the popularity of garden bridges is going up as well. In fact, because bridges inspire a feeling of tranquility, and bring picturesque charm to any landscape, people are putting them into their gardens, water or not.
