Gazebos Light up the Landscape

Submitted by cedarstore

Some people want their gazebos strictly as decorative structures, while others turn them into summerhouses, guesthouses, spas, cottages, and cabanas. For these uses, they may have electricity, plumbing, special lighting, insulation, extra doors, windows, screens, and other features installed in them. Even if you don’t want to live in your gazebo, you may still want to use it for other purposes than as an ornament. For instance, you may want it as a quiet place for relaxing, reading, enjoying your garden, or meditating during the day, and as a not-so-quiet place for having parties or cookouts in the evening.
For special occasions, for holidays, or just for the heck of it, you can deck your gazebo out in lights, even if you don’t have electricity installed in it. You can also do the same for arbors, trellises, and pergolas, to give your garden a festive sparkle any time of the year.
The most important thing, if you’re going to light up your gazebo, or any other backyard structure that does not have its own source of electricity installed, is to make sure that you’re doing it safely. First of all, make sure that your decorative lights are specified for outdoor use, by looking for the UL red label. The ones with the green labels are for indoor use only. Exercise the same caution when choosing an extension cord. Many of the ones that are intended for outdoor use are orange, but some are green. The only way to be sure is to check the label.
Use only outdoor outlets, and don’t run an extension cord from the inside of your home to the outside through a door or window. Besides letting warm – or cool – air escape from your house, you could also be giving an intruder a way in. Moreover, it may damage the cord, creating a fire hazard. The same kind of damage can occur if you use staples or nails to install your outdoor lighting, so make sure to use plastic fasteners, which can be found at hardware stores, home improvement centers, and many craft or art supply shops.
Luckily, of course, the beauty of a gazebo is, well, its beauty, so it’s going to look gorgeous no matter where it’s constructed, or how well-equipped it is. At GazeboCreations.com, you’ll find a grand selection of gazebos, and tons of options for dressing them up any way you wish. You can choose a pre-designed cedar, pine, or vinyl gazebo from one of their packages, or use the Gazebo Wizard to create your own in five simple steps. You can build as many as you like, save them to your personal gallery, and change them any time you want.
GazeboCreations.com also has magnificent wrought iron gazebos, as well as a collection of arbors, trellises, and pergolas that look simply smashing, with or without lights.
