How to Save Money Without Missing OutSubmitted by davesabri@googlemail.com Mon, 22 Jun 2009
We all have to be careful with our money in the current economic climate, but there is no reason to go without entirely. Here are some top tips on ways to save money without missing out.
Switch your energy provider. With so many gas and electricity providers, there could well be cheaper deals out there so shop around. British Gas offer a great rate on their online dual fuel deal if you use them for both gas and electricity. Save money when food shopping by replacing famous brands for the supermarket's own brand and see if you notice the difference. You will certainly notice the savings. For essential ingredients like sugar, flour and salt you will be hard pushed to taste any difference. If you haven't already done so, check out discount supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl. You will be surprised by the high quality products at bargain prices, and look out for their monthly offers on any manner of items from bedding to flat screen televisions. Search online for cheaper petrol prices and take advantage of supermarket money off vouchers when you do your weekly shopping. When traveling by train, bus or plane, book online well in advance and you can get massive savings for exactly the same journey. Before you next take the car out, make sure your tyre pressure is correct as under-inflated tyres will increase your petrol consumption. It is also a good idea to remove unnecessary weight in your boot and to remove your roof rack if you don't need it, as the extra weight and wind resistance will cost you money for extra petrol. Shop around for your car and home insurance and ensure you are not paying for extras you don't need. If you have an old car that isn't worth much, consider third party insurance instead of fully comprehensive and you may very well find the money you save on your premium is more than you would get if your car was written off. There is no need to overspend on clothing with so many easy ways to save money. There is a growing trend for clothes swapping parties and customizing your own outfits. The lovely dress you wore to a wedding once might be great for a friend, while the jeans they can't quite fit into might be the perfect fit for you. Taking a new approach to clothing can mean you end up with some really unique pieces without breaking the bank.
Save money on your homecare insurance and energy with British Gas, officially the cheapest electricity supplier on average in the United Kingdom.
